And now they've fired head trainer Burnstein. For all those who have wanted to see the house cleaned, it's happening. I believe there is a plan, it is a tear down and rebuild. The expiring contracts are going to allow for more picks and dep being how the young look next year and how the team does, they'll probably take on more expiring contracts next year at the be of the season for more picks the year after.
This ain't for the weak-hearted, but it's what's needed. |

Nope, it's the trainer's fault. |

Thanks Carol
I think in this world there are 2 types of people.
1. People who fear change and when it happens they see only doom and gloom.
2. People who get excited for change, embrace it when it happens look for the best in
what the future holds. |

Thrilled with Demko and Markstrom could possibly become a beast.
Super pleased with the shot on Virtanen and Boeser finally some snipers.

We've been lacking in the sniping department for awhile now. Don't know how many time I would yell shoot and they would miss the net, pass or hit the goalie in the chest. |

From Gilman:
He was asked if he was surprised by the announcement.
“I’ve been in this business for 20 years and there are signs you recognize,” he said. “It looked like they wanted to move in a new direction.”
Was he marginalized in the new administration?
“I comported myself in the same manner I did for the previous regime,” he said. “Sometimes my counsel was heeded. Sometimes it wasn’t, but that’s no different than it was under Mike. That’s the sign of a healthy organization.”
It's hard not to agree with that.
The only way that I could stomach the recent firings is if they were, in fact, done to offset lack of projected playoff revenue for next season as that would signal that they realize it's time to go full rebuild. Even if that is the case, I'm still stunned that they let Gilman go... |

Wow. Burnstein has been around a real long time. All the best to the guy. |

Tear this mother down!!!
Finally
Burr will be sent to a contender at the deadline forsure. His cap hit os right on the money now. Contenders will definatly value 20 goals with a defensively great forward with awesome PK abilities. |

From all that has been going on its quite clear change is afoot. I am not stunned at all. Linden and Benning gave the organization one season to see where all stood. You never make a decision in haste. They didn't all moves recently have been calculated. We may not like them all but its happening. |

So Aquilini is trying to save a few hundred thousand as payback for not making the playoffs? Probably has to pay these guys anyway because they signed new deals last year. And if he didn't have to pay them, I'm sure he's not counting the loose change on this. This is the same owner who paid for mind rooms and the other Gillis inventions, I'm sure he's not too bothered by this.
This is regime change and it's funny that now that it's happening Canuck fans are cowering in the corner and crying. In the past, people complained about weak leadership, this -- right or wrong -- is taking action.

Yeah, you're right. If they start a healthy rebuild right away, I bet they'll be able to talk Hank and Dank into moving along at some point down the road. |

Oh yeah there is a plan and I'm sure it's been cleared from ownership. Hopefully picks & prospects will come at the TDL, Burrows, Higgins, Vrbata, Prust, Hamhius, Edler and hopefully Miller. |

And don't forget, O'Reilly got the Sabres to sign his brother Cal to a one-way contract as well.
I have to say, I was really impressed with O'Reilly's play when I saw him at the World Championships, even though he's never stood out to me *that much* with Colorado. I'm very interested to see what his ceiling will be in Buffalo. |

If the Canucks had signed him, everyone would be saying that Benning is a bad negotiator. Probably has a NMC as well. |

Would be worse if we traded that much for him and then didn't sign him
